Google Reader offers exact count of unread feeds

Google Reader (653)

A quickie here. I am no longer seeing 100+ counts in Google Reader, instead I see an exact number. While that sounds like an easy thing (arithmetic, after all), it’s a new and welcome behavior for Google Reader. I hope it’s permanent.

Update: For the sake of completeness, I also note a new “Loading…” animation at the top of the page. Maybe now they won’t lose any more of my unread posts?

Update (2): This explains it. Interestingly, I had a hacked search box that overrode the new search box which is the biggest part of this announcement. Search, from Google. Whodathunkit?
