Hide Google Reader’s Dastardly "Mark All as Read" Button

CropperCapture[3] I am sure you’re all good and tired of hearing me complain about the lousy UI in Google Reader’s otherwise-terrific RSS reader. [heck, they just added drag-and-drop feed management yesterday.] In the absence of a confirmation dialog box that might save one from one’s self, it occurred to me last night that maybe someone else has confronted this issue and stopped it in its tracks.

Sure enough, a moment’s googling revealed this user script which does what its name suggests – hides the “mark all as read” button. Here’s is the author’s own description:

Google Reader Without “Mark All As Read”

Hides “Mark All As Read” button from Google Reader interface. If you’ve ever accidentally hit it while meaning to hit “Refresh”, and lost 500 unread items with no way to retrieve them, you’ll know what this is for.

Salvation at last! My thanks to the author, Sandy Armstrong, for this sanity saving script.
