2,500 Flags to mark Pearl Harbor Day

2,500 Flags – Pearl Harbor Day

This past Friday was the sixty-sixth anniversary of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Staff Sergeant Andrew Crissman, a Marine whose pictures I greatly admired when Telstar Logistics recently brought them to my attention, was on Oahu on Friday, and recorded the American Legion’s powerful memorial to those killed at Pearl Harbor and to the 102 Hawaiians who have fallen in the War On Terror.

The USS Missouri was not moored on Battleship Row when I visited there in 1991, and I hope to see it one day. I think it’s very appropriate for the Arizona and the Missouri to be next to each other – bookends to the war in the Pacific.
