Heading north

An Amtrak Regional glides through a winter evening in Old Saybrook, Connecticut

I’ll be keeping a low profile for a few days while I head off to the beach with my family. The weekend will also include an ad hoc Walri reunion, before the most ambitious one of us heads to Vancouver for more graduate school. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed for clear signals and smooth sailing on the NEC while I head north on the slow train. Connecticut bridge work, originally slated to be complete over ten days ago, slipped due to the contractor’s ineffectual dimaond-bladed saws, so I am going on a conventional, NortheastDirect, Acela Regional, Regional, Northeast Regional, plain ol’ train via the Inland Route (a.k.a., the slow boat to Boston).

(Last summer, the journey looked like this.)
